Obtaining an International Driving License from Rawalpindi City Traffic Police Authority

This article will walk you through a proper and hassle-free way of obtaining International Driving Permit issued by Rawalpindi City Traffic Police, Pakistan.

License issuing authority is Chief Traffic Officer. To facilitate general public, One Window Licensing Facilitation Center is started. Driving Licenses are printed from Traffic Headquarters, Qurban Lines Lahore, and dispatched to applicant's address within 7-10 days.

List of things you’ll need for obtaining International Driving License:

1. A copy of C.N.I.C.
2. A copy of Valid Driving License issued from Rawalpindi.
3. A copy of Pakistani Passport valid for at-least 6 months, with Visa.
4. 2 Photographs (passport size)
5. Rs. 70 Licensing Ticket.


COMPLETE PROCESS IN DETAIL:

• Go to Rawalpindi Kacheri, near Airport Road, and ask some security guard where the notary stamp people are. Tell that notary person to issue you Rs. 70 court ticket for International License (3 tickets of Rs. 20 each, and 1 ticket of Rs. 10).
• Take a photocopy each of CNIC, Valid Rawalpindi Driving License, Valid Passport, Valid Visa and 2 Photographs (passport size) with you to City Traffic Police Office Rawalpindi Headquarters, near Westridge 2.
• Buy International Driving License file for Rs. 30 from Room # 08. Fill all available details mentioned in the given file, and attach your documents with it.
• Take that file to Counter # 05, the concerned representative will verify your documents and give you a token number.
• After you have received the token number, take that file to Room # 07, where final verification will take place. The concerned representative will take a photograph of you and upload it along with your application. He will provide you a printed challan.
• You have almost completed the process. Submit the file and that printed challan back to Counter # 05 along with Rs. 180 challan payment. Bring back the challan copy with you.

• International Driving Permit will be delivered to your postal address within 7-10 days.

TIPS:

• Take Original CNIC and Original Driving License with you.
• Notary Stamp shops open around 9am in the morning.
• Rawalpindi Traffic Police Office accepts applications from 8am to 1pm (Monday to Thursday).

Change and customize Windows 7's Logon screen [using regedit]

While experimenting with several Microsoft Windows 7 systems recently, I spent a lot of time staring at the Logon screen. During that time, I began to think about changing the Logon screen wallpaper. So I started googling ways and methods for changing the welcome screen wallpaper.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and after editing/creating some registry entries, I am able to change my logon screen wallpaper just like shown below:

Finally Microsoft has incorporated a new feature in the latest build (7057) of Windows 7 which supports the end user to change the logon screen background without using any hacks or third-party tools.

In previous version of Windows, user had to use third-parry tools like Tune-Up-Utilities to change the logon screen background. Windows 7 now supports customization of Windows 7 logon screen officially. Replacing the old logon screen is just another task like changing wallpaper (Desktop background).

Follow the procedure below to change the Windows 7 logon screen:

1) Press ⊞ Win+R and type regedit there and then press enter.

Note: Editing the Windows Registry file is not without its risks, so be sure you have a verified backup before making any changes.

You will encounter a UAC when you launch the Registry Editor.

2) Once the Registry Editor launches, locate and right-click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key and select the Find command. When you see the Find dialog box, type OEMBackground in the text box and make sure that only the Values check box is selected.

3) If OEMBackground not found, create a new DWORD (32-bit value), name it OEMBackground and modify its value date from 0 to 1.

3) To complete this part of the operation, click OK to close the Edit DWORD dialog box and then close the Registry Editor.

4) Now launch Windows Explorer. Then navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\Oobe folder. Once you access the Oobe folder, click the New Folder button in the Windows Explorer toolbar. You’ll see a confirmation dialog box, when you click Continue, the new folder will be created and name it info.

When you click the New Folder button, you’ll encounter a confirmation dialog box.

5) Then, open the info folder, click the New Folder button again, work through the confirmation dialog box, and then name the second new folder backgrounds.

6) You can use any image that you want for your new Logon screen wallpaper. However, the image has to be in JPG format and you need to name it backgroundDefault.jpg. When you copy your file to the Windows\System32\Oobe\info\backgrounds folder, you’ll encounter and will need to work through a confirmation dialog box.

7) Two other things to keep in mind: First, the actual file size of backgroundDefault.jpg cannot exceed 256 KB. Second, you’ll have to use an image whose dimensions match the screen resolution that you are using. If you use a file whose dimensions are smaller, the image will be stretched and may appear distorted. Use Photoshop for altering your image to desired size/pixels/dimensions.

8) You are done. Reboot or Lock your system and see the change.

9) Now go to Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety > Change your account picture, and then select the image you want to be displayed as your welcome screen avatar.

Copy or Save Text and Images from Right Clicking Disabled Websites

METHOD 1

Webmasters protect their contents in the shape of both text and images by disabling right click on their websites. Once they disable right clicking ability on their websites, you can’t right click on their web pages or in other words, making a right click won’t pop up any options. This is really annoying when you want to save an image or copy some definitions for your project or something. In this case, you can follow a simple trick to bypass these right click disable limitations and copy both text and images from that web page. Earlier I posted a simple trick to bypass no right click problems, but this trick is more simpler.

1. Open the page you want to copy text or save image from
2. Once the page is loaded, press CTRL + U on your keyboard
3. This shortcut will open the web page source code
4. Find the text you want to save and copy it from there
5. Find the image link from the source code and open that link in a new window, this time you will be able to save the image
6. You are done.

Source code of a web page means all the codes and informations that makes a web page. In this way you can navigate to any site or any web page’s source code and easily copy or save text and images from it.

METHOD 2

Websites use javascripts to block the right clicks on their websites. This javascript acts with our browser. So, if we can set our browsers to avoid running those scripts, we will be able to copy texts and save images. Now lets learn how to disable javascripts and enable right click.

Firefox users :

• Go to Tools –> Options
• Click on Content tab
• Uncheck the box saying Enable javascript
• Restart Firefox and you are done.

Internet Explorer Users :

• Go to Tools –> Internet Options
• Click on Security Tab –> Custom Level
  
• Scroll to Scripting
• Disable it.
• Restart IE and you are done.

Once you are done with your job, enable javascript option on your browser again. From now on, you don’t need to get worried when you find a web page that does not allow you to copy text or save images from it. The above mentioned tricks will take care of that and you will be able to copy texts and save images.

Internet Explorer 9 window crashes in Windows 7. Why?

You may typically get one of the errors below or the IE window might freeze or restart without an error message.

“Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.”

“Internet Explorer has stopped responding”

This is typically due to incompatible add-ons or toolbars or an incompatible display adapter. Internet Explorer uses the graphics chipset for hardware acceleration and these issues might happen due to an older and/or incompatible driver.

You can typically resolve these issues using the following steps in the given order.

Method 1: No Add-ons Mode

Click Start. Type in "iexplorer.exe -extoff" and press enter. This will open IE in No Add-ons mode. Check if the crashes or performance issues happy while on this mode.
If there are no issues when using this mode, you can use the addon manager to disable all unwanted add-ons.

To do this, follow these steps:

Open Internet Explorer 9. Click the tools button (wheel button at the right hand side corner), and then click Manage Add-ons. On the Show drop-down menu, select All add-ons to display all add-ons that are installed on the computer. Look for each item in the list, select the add-on, and then click Disable in the Information window.
When you have disabled all the items in this list, click OK.
Exit and then restart Internet Explorer.

Method 2: Reset Internet Explorer Settings

To use the Reset Internet Explorer Settings feature from Control Panel, follow these steps:
Exit all programs, including Internet Explorer (if it is running).

Click Start, type the following command in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER:
    inetcpl.cpl

The Internet Options dialog box appears.
Click the Advanced tab, Under Reset Internet Explorer settings, click Reset.
Then click Reset again. When Internet Explorer finishes resetting the settings, click Close in the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box. Start Internet Explorer again.

Please note that running RIES (Reset Internet Explorer Settings) will reset all user-defined settings including those set by installed extensions, toolbars and other add-ons to IE Defaults. This includes all Security, Privacy and Zone settings. Also this will clear browsing history, delete all temporary Internet Files, cookies, form data and especially all stored passwords.

However, RIES does not clear Favorites or Subscribed Feeds.

Method 3: Software Rendering

If resetting IE or No Add-ons mode does not resolve the issue for you then it could be a compatibility issue with the Graphics card.

To resolve this, Click Start, type the following command in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER: inetcpl.cpl

Under Internet Options, click the advanced tab. Under 'Accelerated Graphics', click on the checkbox next to 'Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering*'. Ensuring that it is checked, click on OK. Close Internet options.

Now open Internet Explorer 9. It should now work without any issues.

3. While it playing, pause it. Choose File > Subtitle Database, Choose ‘Download’

4. Wait until the Subtitle Database windows show

5. Pick the subtitle you want to download, then press ‘Download & Open’ and wait Download Process

6. After the process done, now try to play again the video.

7. If the Subtitle is match with your video, choose File > Save Subtitle ( Dont forget to name it same as your video files )
